What we do (and don't do) at Pierce N Place

We Use Titanium for all our piercings because we believe it's the best! Due to its nickel free composition it's extremely unlikely that an allergic reaction will occur, it also means that there's practically no chance it will corrode even if you never change the bar. All our titanium also comes from a UK based manufacturer as we believe this guarantees a higher quality than having it imported - it would be cheaper for us to import, but we want what's best for your piercing.

We Don't Use Ear Piercing Guns For Any Piercing. Piercing Guns cannot be completely sterilised, they can't be autoclaved, there's no way to sterilise the working mechanism and an antiseptic wipe will not kill all air born pathogens on the surface of the gun. They will cause tissue trauma as the blunt earring rips through the ear and if used on cartilage it can and most probably will cause it to shatter. Also, in an attempt to make gun piercing a cheap option the jewellery which is often used with guns is of low quality and unsuitable for starter piercings, the gun may also clip the jewellery far too tight and allow no room for swelling.

We Use Single Use Needles for many reasons, to start with there's no chunky machine blocking the entry and exit view so that your piercing is precise. Single Use Needles are sharper and require next to no pressure to be exerted on the skin resulting in less damage to the surrounding tissue. A single use needle also destroys the risk of any contamination from the piercing instrument, so that your piercing has the best chance of success.

We Don't Use Freezing Spray under any circumstances. It would be a relatively cheap procedure for us to carry out, but we don't believe it is a safe practice for your piercing. 'Ethyl Chloride' known as 'freezing spray' is a solvent that evaporates at room temperature. When this is sprayed onto the skin it draws all the heat out, and literally freezes the tissue . The freezing sensation is rather intense which is the feeling that covers the sensation of the piercing. When you think about this logically the freeze spray MUST feel worse than the piercing in order to work . Ethyl Chloride causes an awful lot of damage to the skin onto which it is sprayed and may also cause frostbite . This can range from mild frostbite around the navel and nipple which results in itchy , flaking skin to more severe frostbite where the circulation is poor, such as the ear cartilage . When you cause frostbite on cartilage the area will swell severely. Freezing spray can continue to effect your piercing by slowing the healing process and leaving you more prone to infection.

We Use A Top of The Range Vacuum Autoclave. It is equipped with a powerful vacuum pump which expels any air pockets (along with air born germs) at the start of the cycle. A pump generated vacuum ensures optimum quality of sterilization and at the end of the cycle guarantees perfect drying. And a sophisticated electronic system ensures constant monitoring of pressure, temperature and time. All to make sure your body jewellery and piercing instruments are completely sterilized.

We Don't Believe In that old cliché 'if you can pinch it you can pierce it'. Today the internet is flooded with 'extreme piercings' and while these may look good it is more than likely that they are impractical, impossible or dangerous - the old favourites are the old favourites for a reason! Photo Shop has been used to create many of these photos and if they are real some of the piercings may only have been done long enough for the photo to be taken. While we like trying different piercings here at Pierce N Place we are not in favour of piercings that will never heal, are going to effect your day to day life or are going to endanger your health. We will always be completely honest about the pro's and con's of any piercing with you so if you have seen something on the internet that your considering or you're just not sure about any piercing, pop in and have a chat with us about it!
